Elena Rusu

Biography
Ms Elena Rusu is a native of Chişinău, Moldova and recipient of a full MUSKIE scholarship from the U.S. Department of State and the Republic of Moldova to study business management. She is expected to complete her MBA degree summa cum laude in the Management of Technology and Operations Management from the University of New Mexico in May 2007. Elena has spent much of her career designing lean manufacturing processes, implementing the Japanese 20 keys system and ISO 9000 Quality Management system for the second largest wine exporting company in Moldova. Elena worked as a country co-manager for Strategic Staffing Resources Ltd in London, UK, where she was responsible for managing all operations of the international firm. She has been working for the past year at the Science and Technology Corporation at the University of New Mexico, where her major technology commercialization duties included technology assessment, market research, and writing business plans for startups. Elena and a colleague won second place in the University of New Mexico Business Plan competition sponsored by Technology Venture Capital and Lockheed Martin. Elena has undergraduate degrees in marketing and operations management and a Masters in Sciences of Education.

This summer Elena will join the Micromanipulator Company, where she will participate in the operations analysis, re-design of total quality control systems, determining critical control points and elaborating standard operation procedures for key operational process."

Wai Yan Wong

Biography
Wai Yan Wong is finishing up her first year at MIT's Sloan, with focus on finance and strategy, after having completed degrees from the University of Waterloo in Computer Engineering and from Cornell with a Masters in Electrical Engineering. Prior to Sloan, she worked as a Semiconductor Designer at Teradyne, a leading Semiconductor Equipment company, and helped launch a Korean test instrumentation startup, Testian. She had also worked on various software and hardware development projects with leading telecommunication and media companies, such as CISCO, Alcatel and ATI Technologies, during her undergraduate internships.

At Teradyne, she had spent significant amount of time in designing ASIC chips and developing system software. She had also made significant contribution to Teradyne’s product development process with the use of revolutionary simulation architecture that helps streamline architectural design, product development and verification across software, hardware and application teams. This new approach significantly improves system integration and product quality, and greatly reduces time to market and “labs bring up” hassles. She was asked to present her work at Teradyne Technical Conference, with hundreds of executives from different divisions in attendance.

As an Engineering Manager at Testian, she had played major decision making role in formulating product and marketing strategies, built the engineering team and drove product development for Testian’s first memory test equipment, SPIDER, with product development efficiency 10 times better than industrial average. SPIDER’s has been successfully launched and introduced at both Shanghai SEMICON and Korea SEMICON early this year.
