Groople grabs $6 million in venture capital
Groople, a Centennial-based online group travel company, said it has secured an additional $6 million of financing and plans to add to its 47-employee work force. ArrowPath Venture Partners and FA Technology Ventures led the round, with existing investors Vista Ventures, Fatty Tuna and Flywheel Ventures also participating.


Groople Flies in New Funding
Word of mouth means a lot for Groople, so the online travel company plans to use the money from its $6-million funding round to increase its level of awareness, and improve its technology. ArrowPath Venture Partners and FA Technology Ventures led the round Thursday, Groople’s third and largest. Groople focuses on easing travel-based transactions for groups by providing one-stop shopping for hotel bookings, airfare, and other forms of transportation. 


Developments To Watch
A new non-invasive device promises to check blood alcohol levels in 90 seconds, as opposed to 20 minutes for a typical breathalyzer test. The system, which looks like a drug-store blood pressure monitor, works by shining a harmless beam of infrared light on the skin of the forearm. Alcohol in the tissue absorbs light, so the amount that reflects back indicates how much alcohol is present.
