Flywheel’s investment focus addresses what the Flywheel team views as the region’s seed- and early-stage funding gap with an emphasis on the technology and/or talent arising out of the region’s research universities, R&D organizations and national laboratories. Specifically, Flywheel Ventures targets investments that meet most or all of the following:
STAGE FOCUS
Seed- and early-stage technology investments (defined as pre-revenue and/or first institutional capital)
INVESTMENT FOCUS
Initial investments of $100,000 to $1 million, with typical target reserves for follow-on funding equal to a 3:1 ratio or greater.
SECTOR FOCUS
Key technology drivers in the region’s innovation centers that include software, semiconductors, networking, communications, clean technology and advanced materials.
GEOGRAPHIC FOCUS
Emerging innovation centers in the Southwest/Rockies region with additional limited co-investments in California.
